about

In a nutshell, I like making music.

Also, I like trying my hand at pretty much everything else. This means I can occasionally impress a friend with some random skill, and I can learn a lot of random things that sometimes turn out to be damn useful, but it's also really distracting.

I started writing music when I was 8 and taking piano lessons. I never got fabulous at piano but I'm damn glad that my music education started from there. At age 12 I got a computer and a MIDI box, and basically tinkered my way into musicianhood over years.

The computer was nice because now most of my hundreds and hundreds of little ideas and songs are archived for rich harvesting. I usually just write new stuff.

In 2004 I recorded, mixed and released a 'debut' solo album, Ashes & Fire. Played all the instruments and sang in the recordings. It was an incredible learning experience, and since then I've written enough material for another 2 or 3 albums. Get on it! I know.

In 2006 I started gigging with my first real band, The Speeding Trees. We released a demo called music to stuff your bra to. Our gigs were super fun, thanks to bandmates Jon Fotis, Shaan Oberdieck and Eric Sanderson.

In 2007 I scored the entirety (except the dance song in part 8) of the feature length indie film Wormtooth Nation (you can watch it for free online in episodes, sountrack available on music page) orchestral-style. Hot damn that was fun!

In 2008 I had a brief stint with the impromptu group The Theory Of George where I had the opportunity to perform six of my originals with the support of talented musicians (Matt Ticciati, Daniel Rodman and my sister Darla). Videos here. Also released a live studio demo session on CD.

At age 16 I started recording and mixing my own songs, and to this day am an aspiring engineer and producer. All above mentioned recordings were engineered and mixed/produced by me, with the exception of the TST demo where Jon co-mixed/produced.

My current aspirations/projects are to continue with TST, continue with DJM (my solo stuff), continue recording and producing, and to learn all I can while making a living doing the above. The only missing piece is the income!

You can hear a bunch of my recent experimental stuff on my Myspace profiles here and here. They're spontaneous pre-release cuts. Relish in the indie glory of post-garage-fi magic!
